The  Einstein®Archives Library is made up of two collections, the Albert Einstein Home Library and the Albert Einstein Research Library. Both serve as a key resource for scholars, historians, and anyone interested in the life of Einstein, his theories and his correspondence. The Home Library holds a rich collection of books that Einstein kept in his living quarters though we cannot know for sure if he actually read most of them. Some of them contain dedications to Einstein by the author, some are annotated by Einstein, some are unopened. It includes works on physics, philosophy, mathematics, and more, as well as materials related to Einstein's personal interests, such as music, politics, and Jewish identity. The Research Library is made up of books on Einstein, his life and work, some published during his lifetime, most after his passing in 1955. The staff of the Archives uses it for reference and it is available to the public. All items in the AEA Library are for perusal in the Reading Room only; there is no possibility of taking books out of the Library.
